La Fin de La Semaine Essay Question(s): Special "All the World's a Multiplex" Edition

So -- first of all, thanks for all the kind birthday good wishes. I got very verklempt and you guys made an old man feel very happy.

But speaking of my birthday, a certain Shady Dame of my acquaintance is taking me to see Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring that guy from The Bear as the Boss, on Sunday...

...and I gotta say that, on the basis of the trailer, and everything I've read about the flick so far, I suspect it might be pretty good.

I'll have more to say next week, unsurprisingly. 😎

But in the meantime, that leads us to the business at hand. And it's a two-parter.

To wit:

1...and your favorite or least favorite bio-pic (roughly defined) of a post-Presley rock/pop/folk/soul/country artist or group is...?

2. What post-Presley rock/pop/folk/soul/country artist or group would you most or least like to see as the subject of a forthcoming bio-pic?

Discuss.

Okay, in case you're wondering -- my favorite existing bio-pic is...

And the not-yet-made one I'd least like to see would be of this guy.

Actually, you could probably make a pretty funny flick about Lord Sutch, but hey -- I don't know if I would bother to watch. I mean, life's short. 😎 😎

But alrighty then -- what would YOUR choices be?

And have a great weekend everybody!!!

Favorite: Not about one particular musical act, but '24 Hour Party People' is a rollercoaster romp of the Madchester scene.
Least favorite: Upon further review, 'Bohemian Rhapsody.'
Bio-pic pick: Screamin' Jay Hawkins

La Bamba was good, and so was This Is Pop (XTC). I'd like to see a good one about The Band, but there's a million ways to do that one wrong.

I want to see a Keith Moon biopic. Daltrey has been working on one. https://www.thewrap.com/the-who-roger-daltrey-keith-moon-biopic-script/

Boy this is a subject that has been covered in quite a few documentaries many of which are found online.
The template being "Almost Famous"
The Band... maybe, Fleetwood Mac at it's inception - Jeremy Spencer with his rockabilly, Peter Green and his aloofness to celebrity.
The Faces, maybe Mott.
Aside from everything that's been done I'm pretty much done with our current "Bio Pic's" - those are probably the kindest thoughts that I can write

Always wanted to see "Party People." And I think yes -- a Screamin Jay Hawkins move would be fabulous.

But you don't like "Bohemian Rhapsody?" Say what?

As I live by the caveat Thea Based On A True Story Means Fiction. I should probably say my favorite bio pic is Spinal Tap. But since that will probably get me disqualified, I'm going to go with The Buddy Holly Story. Pretty much more fiction than fact, but Gary Busey's performance is just so damn intense he wants to make you believe. Pity the way his career went after that.
I think a biopic of Elvis Costello could be hilariously bad.

24 Hour Party People is a sadly overlooked fun romp. Certainly more fun than Control.

I''d like to see a well-researched bio-pic of Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band, holder of the record for the most hippie-ish breakup of all time: the harmonica-player decides he's Jesus Christ and half the band believes him and half of them don't.

Best: This is Spinal Tap (1984 or 5).

Most interested in seeing created bio-film: Stuart Sutcliffe! I know there was sort of a Stu Sutcliffe bio pic (If I remember correctly the title was "Backbeat") but I would like to see an even better film covering his life!

Steve just watched the Lord Sutch video. Reminded me of ...
1. Sutch's make up pre dates Joaquin
Phoenix "Joker"
2. Not sure date wise but "The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown" (Fire) would seem to have been from the same time 👹

I got caught up in the hype when it was released. When I saw it a second time, I recognized that it was a poorly-made film. When it won a raft of Oscars, I thought it was grossly overrated.

A film version of Stereophonic could be great. Or not. I’d love to see a Steely Dan biopic. Lots of opportunities there.

Anonymous above is Gardner.

A Stu Sutcliffe film would be cool, for sure.

Revisting the Bio Pic's -
Doing a bit more reading about the Kinks, the Brothers on stage brawls, Dave Davies throwing a cymbal at Mick Avery, Banned from U.S appearnces, Ray being robbed & stab Ed. All you could ask in a "Rock" movie 🎥
