A Slightly Earlier Than Usual Clue to the New Direction

Off to Gomorrah on the Hudson for a mysterious assignation. In the meantime, from 1960, here's Dion and the Belmont's gorgeous doo-wop version of Rodgers and Hart's "Where or When."

As is customary, a coveted PowerPop No-Prize will be awarded to the first reader who divines the clip's relevance to Friday's Weekend Listomania.

A: What are hit songs on the pop charts that were originally Broadway show tunes.

Where Or When is from the Rodgers and Hart musical, Babes In Arms in which I played the villain, Seymour Fleming, many a moon ago.

No, but that's an interesting idea, and I will probably steal it down the road.

Songs whose titles contain one or more of the old-timey journalist's Five Ws (& One H): Who, What, When, Where, Why (& How)?

1960's and beyond songs written by pre-rock 'n roll composers-- Bacharach, Rogers, Hart, Gershwin, et al.

I hate you.

Let me repeat that. I hate you.

Grrrrrrrr.......

But your coveted No-Prize is coming at you by carrier weasel as we speak.

No go over and leave a comment at Box Office or I will taunt you again.

BTW -- there's a very interesting Beatle clip I've never seen before in the Listomania...coming right after midnite...

Steve – some jerk on a Segway just pulled up to my door. The only things he could say were 1) he hasn’t slept in 7 days; and 2) “Simels sent me.” Do you have any idea what he’s blathering about?

From the soundtrack to Van Damme's "Timecop."

Brilliant version. They've done so many great covers, going back to their first EP, when they did the Beach Boys "Girl Don't Tell Me."
