No Wonder the Floor Models Are World Famous En España

From fabulous downtown Madrid in 2015, please enjoy hitherto unknown to me grunge/punk/power popsters Dover and the delightfully Cars-ish "Too Late."

Apparently there's something in the water in Spain that's conducive to people liking this kind of retro stuff.

And a tip of the Hatlo Hat to reader Mark who suggested I check these guys out last week.

As if Bachman-Turner Overdrive had added a female vocalist to the band in 1984. Yes and of course very Cars.

Pretty good stuff.

Listened to a few more of Dover's tunes on Youtube. A nice consistency to the quality of their songs. Good find Mark.

I always find it interesting how many European rock bands sing in English even if it's not their native tongue. Is it because:

1- They think they need to sing in english to succeed in The USA & UK?

2- Rock & Roll sounds better sung in english? Or

3- a combination of the two. Or

4- something I'm not thinking of.

The Cars never ripped like this. They were more robotic and quirky. Nor did BTO.

This is a Bangles/L7/Pistols hybrid for lack of any better description coming to mind.

The Europeans speak better English than we do. Along with sex and music it's the universal language. This band fully understands that and melds them all. Communication at its finest. As I said before, de puta madre!

I must admit I didn't hear The Cars, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, The Bangles, L7, or even the Sex Pistols in that song. In the first 20 seconds I heard Boston.

Oh, and for anyone (like me in Australia) who can't access that video, here's a watchable link:

Much more attitude and aggression than Boston.

What next? A comparison with Carole King? They do say "It's too late."

I guess Dover's absorbed their influences well if we can't agree as to those influences but we think we hear them.

I hear Cars + Bangles + Knack --- but my computer has a shitty speaker in it and I don't have my headphones with me.
