It's the greatest rock-oriented movie theme in history.
"Beware of the Blob!
It creeps, and leaps!
And glides and slides across the floor!
Right through the door!
And all across the wall -- a splotch, a blotch...
Be careful of the Blob!
Beware of the Blob!
It creeps and leaps......"
I can't imagine why it doesn't figure more prominently in Burt and Hal's resume...
[Okay, I know I've posted this song before, but every now and then I just crack up thinking about it. So sue me.]

Well, I'm not sure I can answer that question for you, but I can tell you that the superb New England guitarist Duke Levine does a nice instrumental version of "The Blob" on his new CD,Beneath The Blue. Duke also does a cover of one of the least-covered tunes in the Beatles canon, the instrumental "Flying" from Magical Mystery Tour. Samples of these and all tracks from his four albums can be found at Duke's MySpace page . I recently saw Duke and his band live in my (and Duke's former) hometown of Worcester, MA--I don't see any dates outside of the New England area, but definitely recommended if you have a chance to see him.
tjwood:
A cover of "The Blob"?
As Cristina Applegate once said on Married With Children -- the mind wobbles.
"The Blob" is a good song, yes, but I prefer "Green Slime"...
