The Present Day Mod Refuses to Die

From 1965, the very first Who video (or promo film, as they were called back in the day).

And if that makes you feel decrepit, please remember that Paul Weller just turned 50 on Sunday.

I grow old...I grow old...

Did Kit Lambert direct the film because the crowd scenes featured almost only guys?

I think this was the first and last time Keith Moon didn't drum to a who song. I mean-- does he even hit the skins in this video. Anytime Tico Torres (Bon Jovi) looks better than keith moon drumming- something is wrong, very wrong.

Guess they hadn't learned the trick of synching the music to the action on film yet.

Were mods really that spazzy?

Also turning 50 this year: Madonna, Prince, and Michael Jackson.

All born the same year as me!

Funny, dave, I just turned 50 and I always point to those same cultural touchstones, along with Kate Bush.
