So I have just learned that the kids really like the Paramore.
I kind of like that song too, actually. I just think I liked it better in the early 80s when it was by Pat Benatar. Or maybe Missing Persons....

Not bad, Steve.
There's a little taste of a poppier version of Garbage and Ms. Manson in there somewheres too.
I am a little slow (this morning), but this is an original. Is this the right video? Both Benatar and Bozzio would kick this Williams chick to the curb without even trying.
It's an original. I was just struck by how much it reminded me of stuff from the early days of MTV.
Yer basic soulless calculated commercial yet catchy crap....
If she falls out of a canoe in the millpond she drowns because she can't make enough noise with her voice to be heard fifty feet away without a very powerful microphone and lots of Vocoder technology on the signal. Believe me, when she recorded this she was making less actual sound than most people do talking in their sleep.
Actually, I like white suburban voices like hers. A great pop tradition going back at least to the early 60s and people like Lesley Gore.
I've got demos from back then with my rabbi's daughter(no lie!) singing lead that sound exactly like this chick...
Well, it works for me, especially if I ignore the visual. For me, New Wave did not last long enough as I still really like and miss the sound. This has a hard edge, kind like the guitarist used to have long hair and listen to something a little heavier, which is nice.
I agree with the toned down Garbage too. I do not think I will buy Paramore, but I might buy their next album, or the one after that. If they keep it together and find more of an edge instead of getting more commercial.
I will have to let my 13 year old daughter listen to this. My 5 year old is already smitten with FOW. Her favorite song is Troubled Times and her daddy is very proud of her!
UPDATE: SO I see they are from my neck of the woods, near Nashville, which is cool. And they share my religious orientation, which is also cool. I love it when Christians rock and rock well. Not that it happens all that often.

Steve:
Wasn't it with your Rabbi's daughter that you copped your first titty feel?
ROTP(lumber)
(The above joke is a new low even for me!)
If your opening lyrics are "I got a lot to say to you/Yeah, I got a lot to say," aren't you essentially saying that you don't, in fact, have a lot to say?
