Forget "Last Train to Clarksville" -- THIS is the greatest song Boyce and Hart ever wrote.
Have a great weekend, everybody!

wow, Samantha's singing voice is...indescribable. For the true Boyce & Hart take, Redd Kross's version is definitive.
Serena really cuts a rug there, no?
Durwood needed to get with the program.
The above comment was from me.
Was she allowed to wear a dress that short in public?
Later in the same episode, the real Boyce & Hart perform the song - I can't remember if they lip-sync, although that was usually the custom on TV in those days. Boyce & Hart's version was actually put out on vinyl in 1969 - on the AQUARIAN label, in which they may have had a financial stake. One of my collector pals has a copy of the record. Despite the national exposure on "BEWITCHED", the song did not turn into a big hit. Maybe they should have put out Serena's version instead; for hormonal and nostalgic reasons, that's the one I prefer. By the way, is Elizabeth Montgomery cool or what? - one of my fondly-remembered TV crushes; versatile talent, too.

I was in the latency stage during the original run of "Bewitched", so I wanted Samantha Stevens to be my mother rather than my girlfriend. Serena would have been a fun aunt to have. Doctor Bombay could have been my pediatrician. And Paul Lynde would have been my wacky gay uncle. This would have all been much more interesting than my actual childhood.

You know, one of my regrets about the history of American culture is that Paul Lynde, as his Uncle Arthur character, never made his own record album.

Good song, but my vote goes to 'Alice Long.' I remember it getting big-time rotation on Chicago radio.
I miss every other female wearing mini-skirts! Wowser...those legs! It's the missing ingredient The Beatles lacked cause they had everything else. Fun stuff!!!!!
