Tales of the Great Replacement Theory

From 1984, please enjoy the greatest band ever out of Minneapolis -- AKA The Replacements -- and their sensational cover of The Grass Roots' "Temptation Eyes."

Okay, I'm going to hell for that joke.

Funny that you should post this today - I was just listening to this song yesterday. It's a bonus track on the expanded edition CD of the "Let It Be" album that Rhino put out back in 2008. Paul Westerberg and the band had an obvious affection for 1970s AM pop hits - another bonus track on the same CD is their cover of the DeFranco Family's bubblegum smash "Heartbeat, It's A Love Beat." And Steve, please keep making jokes, however hellish - we definitely need some laughs in these grim times. I just hope nobody tackles you... :-)

Yes, joke on, joke on.

The title "Temptation Eyes" reminds me of "Hungry Eyes" as recorded by Eric Carmen, still played on dinosaur rock radio stations. These days the young folks seem to prefer "thirsty" as the metaphor - I don't know exactly why but I don't worry about being au courant - as the song from Gigi put it - and I saw that film in the theatre when first released - "I'm glad I'm not young any more."
