Those kids, who by any objective standard should be international superstars instead of well-regarded cult figures, have never been the musical guests on Saturday Night Live.
And yet this person, who is at best an unintentional parody of a parody of an aerobicist...
...has/just was.
Does this disparity say something about our current pop culture in general or is it merely a reflection of the limits of Lorne Michael's declining acuity?
Discuss.

Welcome to the 21st Century!
Also what is considered an attractive body type sure has changed in this century.
Also does anyone understand what is being sung? Almost a foreign language.
What the hell's wrong with you "Captain Al"?
The Mona Lisa Twins are without question, talented. But the problem I have with every one of the videos you've shared is that, they are bland. There's nothing distinct or "special" about their sound. It's like listening to a Ronco sound-alike hits comp from the 70's. Ever see the Fab Faux live? Great show! But would you prefer listening to a Fab Faux record of "Revolver" or "Revolver?" The Fab Faux only work in person. That's how The Mona Lisa Twins seem to me. They'd kill in a bar after a few cocktails. Beyond that, meh.
Oh and that GLOrilla performance is beyond horrible.
Indeed, that was central to my point. 😎
No offense to our esteemed host, but I have to agree with you 100%, Sal. I've listened to every MLT song posted here and I've never made it through one of them. I lose interest almost immediately after I click play.
Trump. Reality TV. Mindless, corporate Nashville pop masquerading as country music. And that utter shite from SNL. It's all of a piece. I think it does say something about the current cultural moment, something unsettling. And it makes me wonder why people don't demand better.
It's why we need Steve and Sal. Keep on turning us onto some cool music
The (pardon the pun) "gorilla in the room" question is "Did Lorne Michaels roll over for some DEI mandate?" Wake up, Lorne. You don't have to book these phonies anymore.
I'll see your MLT S&G cover and raise you these lassies (first seen in this here blog):

As for GloRilla, it's about the light show and dancing that tiresome phalanx that I guess we can blame on Madge.
