Well, here goes what's left of my street cred.
Seriously, I know Mike Love's a dick, but this is still a beautiful song. And for what it's worth, when I got Rhino's new two CD Chicago best-of in the mail a few weeks ago, this was the only track I put on my Ipod before I gave the album away.

Well, Mike Love had exactly doodly-squat to do with that track (aside from standing around and going "ba-baba-ba" when he was told to). Carl, as usual, was exquisite...
Carl and Dennis each did a solo album in the 70s, and both of them were really good.
Somebody needs to reissue those...I had at bootleg CD of Dennis's at one point, but I seem to have misplaced it...
I think I've got "Pacific Ocean Blue" saved as an MP3 somewhere... I'll look...
When is that guy going to finish shaking that martini? I'm gettin' thirsty.
Great song. Utterly forgot about this one. Did not know the BBs were involved.
OK, so who is that singing lead? It that Terry Kath with a haircut?
And Steve, 25 or 6 to 4 does nothing for you? I know that Chicago were not a powerpop band, but the first three or 4 albums are crucial for me. We agree that this song is killer, but what is missing from their other early work for you?

I'm just being snarky. I like some of that stuff too....
OH, well then! Now after Terry Kath died, they lost their edge that I so enjoyed. I do not have any of that stuff.
Sorry my snarky meter was off!

They also did back-up on "Rock and Roll Lullaby" by BJ Thomas.
Chicago's manager/producer, James William Guercio, got involved with them for a while and was really helping out with their then-moribund career, booking them with the then-hugely-popular Chicago on their tours. As usual, the group unceremoniously dumped him for no good reason...
To TMink:
The singer is Terry Kath, who's playing bass while Peter Cetera handles acoustic guitar. Click on the "Old Days" video to confirm this
Thanks for the confirmation. His haircut and instrument had me doubting my ears.
Tragedy about his death, that man had lots of soul and could really play a guitar.
