Sharp Dressed Man

From 1965, the great Domingo Samudio, aka Sam the Sham (with The Pharaohs) and "Wooly Bully."

Seriously -- has there ever been a band with cooler stage clothes?

Those Mexican wrestling outfits....

What a great song! Like Double Shot of My Baby's Love by the Swinging Medallions, it is perfect and ageless. Last time I heard about Sam he was a born again Christian working with the homeless.

Oh my gosh, I totally forgot that they did Lil' Red Riding Hood. Wow, my first favorite novelty song, even before Snoopy and the Red Baron.

Here's a posting from the Pasadena Public Library about a plaque Sam donated to the city in honor of veterans. Great picture of Domingo, who, according to the post, is living in Memphis.

I'm sorry to be so contrary, but "Wooly Bully" is the greatest frat-dance record ever made. Double Shot of My Baby's Love; Louie, Louie; nothing compares.

And what is the thing with '60s TV shows posing models who don't move a muscle? You see it all the time.

Peter, I can agree with your ranking, but I think the other two songs compare nicely and have a place in the pantheon of garage rock.
