Well, for starters, he wrote a fricking great song with my girlfriend's name as the title.
Also -- the new version, from the Beach Boys' 50th anniversary tour live album....
...is pretty damn great too.

Trademark Dave just reminded me that on the original studio version you can hear somebody coughing just before the organ solo.
:-)
Ahh, like you can hear Paul McC inhale on "Ask Me Why..."
"Wendy" is perfect. If it weren't released as an EP, it would have been a much bigger hit.
I suspect that Brian's infatuation with organ solos was inspired by the organ solo in Freddie Cannon's "Palisades Park". I can't think of any earlier example in the rock ... canon. Brian's "Amusement Park USA" is another clue that he was powerfully influenced by this song.
Dennis sure was a handsome devil. There's a reason the girls screamed every time he got some camera time. He's got major sex charisma.
But oddly, when I looked at this old footage of Dennis a second time, I flashed on David Wooderson.
Is there something wrong with me?
Yeah, maybe "Wendy" would have been a bigger hit if it was released on a 45 but they already had "When I Grow Up (To Be a Man) out. So "Wendy" was just a little gravy on the side.
I have never been that crazy about the follow up single, "Dance, Dance, Dance," but I absolutely adore its B-side.
I used to slow strip in the candlelight for my baby to "The Warmth of the Sun." It creates a perfect combination of innocence and lust. A perfect melding of the virgin with the seductress. Guys like that.
The only other song that has that kind of vibe for me is the Flamingos "I Only Have Eyes For You," the brilliance of which never ceases to overwhelm me.
I also love to disrobe my baby, get on my knees and sing The Fleetwoods' "Come Softly To Me," with my lips just out of reach of his genitals. It's so thrilling and powerful watching him grow to fullness as I sing those wonderful lyrics. It's purrrfect.
If you haven't guessed, I truly love music. And for good reason.
