No Pier Pressure

The single from Brian Wilson's new album. With Al Jardine.

Yes. This guy IS my generation's Gershwin. If the rest of the album is this good, I'm going to be -- in the immortal words of Robert Downey Sr. -- a happy chappie.

Very sweet, a bit too MOR, but their voices are still magical together.

(Bonus points to steve for the Putney Swope reference)

Who needs Mike Love?

I love Brian Wilson, but this isn't exactly a pocket symphony. Sounds like the theme for a romantic sitcom. Pleasant enough, if not terribly substantial. Outtakes and keepers from the sessions are already circulating along with the performance at the Venetian and a few Jeff Beck sessions. Ask your local bootlegger.

Al Jardine sang the best of anyone on the Beach Boys reunion tour 2 years ago when Mike's band merged with Brian's band.

I just listened to the album samples and it sounds like Brian's 2015 "Today" album, there's not to many songwriters who had big hits in the 60's that can still come up with this quality music...

I think the album has far too many vocal guest appearances to be compared with any Beach Boys effort. Collaborative, or not, there are better songs than "The Right Time" on the album, though. And in reference to "Today!", at least there's no "Bull Session with Big Daddy."

That's how Brian did his 60's albums giving out the vocals to who ever fitted the song, here he only had Al from the BB to do that, so he used others to ..with great results

Agree with others above re: MOR/TV theme song tendencies...unfortunately.

My last favorite "new" Brian was his collaboration with Van Dyke Parks, "Orange Crate Art", which I played incessantly.

Oh, Mr. Parks...got any free time...? I'd love to hear a follow-up to that...

Not too into this. At least Mike (Un)Love isn't involved.

Certainly better than anything on the last BB album, and most of Brian's solo album material.

Sandy likes it. But she likes Wilson Phillips too. So ...

It wouldn't be out of place on "Friends". That's a compliment.

Sounds like a rewrite of "Lay Down Burden" off of "Imagination"
