Steeleye Span's greatest hit.
Astounding to think that these guys were pop stars at the height of glam.
And Maddy Prior could have had me if she'd played her cards right...

I bought her a drink in the saloon bar of the Bournemouth Arms Hotel after she and Tim Hart did a brilliant duo show for the Bournemouth (Hampshire) Folk Club, about three months before the first Steeleye LP came out. Sandy Denny, June Tabor, Shirley Collins, Jacqui McShee, all of them. I don't care. Maddy Prior was the greatest. Gaudete is just one side of it. "The Lark in the Morning," "Cam Ye O'er Fra France," "All Around My Hat," the sexiest voice of any folksinger EVER, weak chin and all.

Wow.
Seriously -- just wow.

Steve - I want to thank you for turning me on to Steeleye Span all those years ago. I remember seeing them at the Bottom Line on the Now We Are Six tour.
