Scott Walker 1943 - 2019

As people have been saying, loneliness was the cloak he wore.

I'd be less than honest if I didn't admit that the more experimental music, upon which his reputation now rests, was not really my cup of tea, although it's undoubtedly impressive stuff.

That said, if you haven't seen this utterly amazing documentary on his life and career...

...you need to run over to Amazon and grab the thing HERE immediately.

Over to allmusic, the first line of Richie Unterberger's bio on The Walker Brothers begins as such:

They weren't British, they weren't brothers, and their real names weren't Walker

I liked the couple of hits this bunch had but I wasn't familiar with Scott W's later stuff.

I always thought The Righteous Brothers did the same thing much better. No joke not intended.

The Walker Brothers' version of "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" is one of the greatest 45s of all time, IMHO. I also enjoy a lot of the material - the "dark M.O.R.", as somebody once accurately described it - on Scott's early (1967-70) solo albums and non-LP singles.
