Your Friday Moment of Speaking of Gorgeous

The title song/video from Bruce Springsteen's forthcoming album.

I lack the words to describe how amazing that is.

However, I will say this -- to paraphrase one of the guys from Mystery Science Theater 3000 -- it's pretty obvious that the Boss has felt a breeze from the powerful hind claws of Death itself behind him.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

The young stars of the '60s and '70s had seen how short the careers of the first generation rockers had been. Death, the Army, jail, the Church had all taken their heroes away and they did everything they could to build life-long careers, not realizing that long careers carry their own traps. Fifty years making great three-minute records turns you into a self-parody by definition, because you can't not return to the lyric concerns and musical textures that inform your work. However great the individual records are, there's no way they don't sound like the Bruce Springsteen voice I use for laughs onstage. pete

As I've said here on numerous occasions -- behold the perils of being insufficiently cynical for some people. :-)
