Oh, the Humanity!

You know, when I first heard a Buzzcocks song in a car ad, I just shrugged.

I figured, now you flannel-shirted pieces of Gen-X fetal tissue will know how my peers felt when Nike used the Beatles "Revolution" to sell sneakers.

But I just heard the La's sublime "There She Goes" in a goddamn Bali Bra commercial.

Swear to god, I'm gonna take a hostage....

Ah, but is that any worse than the Buzzcocks in an AARP commercial? It may not be as crassly commercial, but it might have people equating Buzzcocks with 'old'.

Oh, steve, have you ever seen the Cheap Trick "Surrender" amusement park commercial? Nothing says family fun like songs about venereal disease!

(Jeff Murphy, FWIW, claimed that it sounded like Zander singing.)

Um, I think that Steve and Pete might be pushing the envelope towards what is commonly known as "older."

Have you seen Mr. Shelley lately? Remember, age is just a number, or some crap like that.

And it isn't as if The La's are ever going to make another album. If it hasn't happened by now, it's never going to. Damn Scousers.

Sadly enough, "Surrender" was my family ringtone for quite a while.

Now? "Rehab." Way appropriate.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of songs about drugs (herion in particular) that get included in commercials these days.
